Adieu Mumbai

Three and a half months after coming, living and loving a new place, the time has come, quite suddenly to leave. I have been transferred to Bangalore, err Bengaluru. Transfers are common in jobs as you all may have experienced. Indeed they are even necessary and desirable. But in this case I was truly very disturbed to be forced to leave Mumbai. Not really because I loved the city. I don't love the city. I love the people. I made great friends, got lot of love and felt perfectly at home with the surroundings. I was kinda in sync with the nice life I had. Getting up in the morning in my Thane flat, going to the office by company bus sleeping, getting to the canteen(I keep forgetting the names even now :( ), having idli sambar or veg cheese sandwich. Then studying the library or working in the lab, chatting with friends, and my 'daughter', sipping coffee and discussing about Mo One etc. In one single email, all that changed. I have no regrets. I have made a promise to myse

Her B'day

It was after that wonderful Alibaug trip that we went to celebrate her birthday in Mumbai , right after office hours. Went to KFC and ordered some buckets and a veg snacker or something. Clicked a few pics here and there and got out. For some reason her mood was really off. Pandey went to buy a couple of clothes. I hoped to cheer her up by gifting something myself( a gift from my mom just did not cut the cake). I went in and was completely confused. All kinds of clothes, women's garments were for sale, clothes about which I knew nothing, understood nothing and do nothing. I could only make out the price tags and the color. Well not even the color entirely. Anyway finally I found a sweet pink suit. A shop attendant really helped me a lot. She looked and behaved very sweetly. I bought it and quietly took the gift and kept it right in front of her. She hesitated in the beginning but ultimately gave in. I could not make out much of an expression from her face then. In fact she rem

In Nature's Arms

So finally my work in Mumbai is coming to a close. Over the weekend we went to Alibaug, a quiet town about 1.5 hours from Mumbai. It has a number of beaches, pleasant climate, hills to suit those wishing for some adventure. Within 30 kms from the center of Alibaug one can go visit the beaches or climb onto the hills around, especially the wonderful Kankeshwarya Mandir(I am sorry if I get the spelling wrong). Alibaug Beach - Serene and Untouched The rooms that we were put up in were ok, and all day was spent in relaxing. By the time it was afternoon, we went to the hill temple, climbing about 1000 steps one at a time. The breathtaking view from above was awesome. The horizon spreading into the infinite – the hills, the Pratapgarh fort in the distance and Alibaug town below was a magnificent display of natural splendor. Of course, the most important reason I loved the trip was that she was with me. She really struggled to get up the slopes. Anyway somehow she managed. The templ

Attacking with Reaver

Lan box (Photo credit: degra™ ) The last month went in a flash. I did not even get time to breathe properly. As for the information I missed sharing is that I passed the L1 certification exams and thus sealed my post in the company. As for the silly things I do - I am going to write about that now. Last night I got a situation. My unlimited internet limit had exceeded. So I was left with a painstakingly slow connection, and oh boy it was such a pain. I decided to do something about it. Switching my wireless on I found that about 10 wireless routers were switched on nearby. I thought to myself, why not try checking the routers. I got hold of this wonderful software called Reaver on Google Code. I downloaded the source code and compiled it. The program is so simple and destructive, it blew my mind away. reading the comments it is obvious that many users have successfully used it. So I thought why not give it a try? I ran these on my own Ubuntu 12.04 system, updated to the
