The Sound of Cooking

Professional videos should look good. That is obviously the conventional wisdom. And there is nothing particularly wrong with that either. But there is something we tend to miss often. Professional videos should have even better sound. Of course, one can excuse him/herself by stating that their videos are not meant to be of a great quality. But here's the problem. If you are shooting and sharing with friends and family, that is one thing. But if you wish to create a channel and you actually CAN do your stuff properly - you should take care about the metadata. YouTube channel owners should ideally consider their work as semi professional - especially if they ask for subscribers and likes in the video. Let's assume we (the audience) know that you know about your thing. Say you are a cook, as in the video below. The cooking skills are good, the location is nice, the camera angles are standard, the animations are good and video quality crisp. But what really lets the vi

Eat only what you can cook

People are alarmed at the supposed bans on meat in India. Actually, this is a trend all over the world. From China to Europe to the United States, countries are looking to cut meat consumption rather than promote it . Also, contrary to popular opinion, India has been one of the largest meat exporters in the world. India is also the largest exporter of beef in the world . That is something we need not be very proud of. I am not for a policy against meat consumption in general. I do discourage it, for  a variety of reasons. Religion is probably only a small part of it . In fact, except for beef, religion does not play a part here in any case. There are numerous pros and cons to both sides of the argument here. But there is something that should strike you. I am not sure if you have thought about it, but here’s a hypothetical thought experiment for you to ponder about. I give you (by you I mean a general test population of at least 50+ people) a variety of food items – that are

Top 10 Hindu friendly restaurants in Kolkata

Kolkata is famous as a culinary delight for food lovers the world over. Ok, if that's too much let's just say it's famous all over India. I am not saying it provides the best food, but it's great, cheap and unhygienic. So here are the top 10 restaurants that Hindus can try out while they are in the city. Hindus in Kolkata, being a minority, can find it difficult to find places that are both famous and yet conform to their spiritual practices. So keeping that in mind here's the list. I have kept out small joints and shops selling sweets simply because it's not recommended to fill your stomach with rosogollas alone - no matter how much you like them. Safety tip: Always ask beforehand if they have beef on sale. :) It is still recommended that you ask before you place an order if the place serves beef as demand may require the establishment to provide it. In that case please let us know and we will update it. Some of these restaurants will have multiple

I Got My Freeduino But No Cake

Yes, I ordered this Freeduino kit from ebay and it's with me now. In one word it's just - Great. This weekend (actually yesterday) I connected it to my system and started the Blink program and other basic tests with it. The installation is so simple and hassle free that it can just simply blow your mind. Ok that might be an exaggeration. But anyway, if you are interested into electronics skulduggery you may want to give this a try as well. Yes, along with that I got a kit - like a mini breadboard, jumper cables, resistors capacitors, one LCD display, a couple of motors, some battery mounts, a few sensors and so on. So I have enough to get started with some of the cool stuff I have always wanted to do. I will need to get a few more things just to be safe and get on with it. On the other hand, my best friend is at her worst. That's actually not true because she is not any worse than she was a month back. But anyway, I feel helpless because I know I can do nothing about

Thank God It's Friday

Friday is the one of the best days of the week. Every Friday I feel so good. Take today for example. I woke up at 9 after having a 51/2 hour sleep. Bought some bread from the shop and boiled a couple of eggs. I slapped some chocolate cream and cheese on the bread and had it for breakfast. Then I left for office. What I have in mind to do this evening and night is also quite cool. I would love to get myself a wine. Along with a couple of glasses. One extra - just in case. I will just play the Beethoven's Fur Elise and sip wine. I may also try reading a book or two. Already going through a new book - The Six Sacred Stones. As for dinner, I will try to stick to the same stuff I usually have every Friday - either pizza with garlic bread from Dominos or egg biryani from Kabab Masti . In the weekend I have some plans to meet up with friends and have some fun. Cheesy pizzas - That is one my favorite dishes. I just love it.
