The Sound of Cooking

Professional videos should look good. That is obviously the conventional wisdom. And there is nothing particularly wrong with that either. But there is something we tend to miss often. Professional videos should have even better sound. Of course, one can excuse him/herself by stating that their videos are not meant to be of a great quality. But here's the problem. If you are shooting and sharing with friends and family, that is one thing. But if you wish to create a channel and you actually CAN do your stuff properly - you should take care about the metadata. YouTube channel owners should ideally consider their work as semi professional - especially if they ask for subscribers and likes in the video. Let's assume we (the audience) know that you know about your thing. Say you are a cook, as in the video below. The cooking skills are good, the location is nice, the camera angles are standard, the animations are good and video quality crisp. But what really lets the vi

Remember the Demons?

Yes the premonitions have returned. Remember the foreknowledge of bad things happening to people I care about/ or to me personally? The feeling of being lost, disturbed sleep at night, nightmares have all come back and I don’t like one bit of it. Under the circumstances this makes me wonder about the demons who supposedly left me about 3 years ago. Is this temporary or are these to stay again. Time will tell. That I may be running out of it is another matter altogether. Also a couple of things happened last week. Some were nice and some hurt, though I don't blame anyone. At office this friend of mine said that she sometimes worries if all the guys are like me. I was kinda taken aback - I knew what she meant. She was hoping that his boyfriend would not turn out like me. I reassured her saying that I am different, most guys are good. But it hurt like hell, the innocence and honesty with which she said that was like a grenade being lobbed under my chair. I somehow just control

I Got My Freeduino But No Cake

Yes, I ordered this Freeduino kit from ebay and it's with me now. In one word it's just - Great. This weekend (actually yesterday) I connected it to my system and started the Blink program and other basic tests with it. The installation is so simple and hassle free that it can just simply blow your mind. Ok that might be an exaggeration. But anyway, if you are interested into electronics skulduggery you may want to give this a try as well. Yes, along with that I got a kit - like a mini breadboard, jumper cables, resistors capacitors, one LCD display, a couple of motors, some battery mounts, a few sensors and so on. So I have enough to get started with some of the cool stuff I have always wanted to do. I will need to get a few more things just to be safe and get on with it. On the other hand, my best friend is at her worst. That's actually not true because she is not any worse than she was a month back. But anyway, I feel helpless because I know I can do nothing about

Two Missed Birthdays, Some Sweets and a Great Song

Life is a little strange now. At office the load is much lesser than it usually was just about a month back. It's true I miss both my daughters (they are not real, but that you can guess), but other friends and avocation keep me busy. Today was the birthday of one of Lali's friends. She's pretty, nothing gorgeous and glamorous, but eye catching. The kinda person I am, well, never mind. So I had every intention of going and 'wishing her'. Yes, I had to put that in quotes, because I just don't go to only wish a girl on my own. Things go from one thing to the next, and sometimes too quickly for me to keep track of. Perhaps Lali understood this and simply said that if I go and talk to her, she won't talk to me! She's sweet and the last thing I want was her to throw tantrums when my days are going quite okay. This picture has absolutely no relevance to this post, in case you are wondering. :D The other birthday was special not really to me, but I d

Friend's Exam, Moral Dilemma and an Unknown Lady

Saturday was rough. Truth be told, Friday was kinda rough on me. Got no sleep, got to hit the bed at around 6 in the morning. Woke up around 8:15 when Lali called me up. I was so tired I could not even curse! But I had to keep my word. I was supposed to get her to her exam day, and I did. Just after I went to sleep again and woke up around 10, just before we were supposed to meet at my place. From there we got to the exam center. Halted in between for some much needed breakfast - the ones that reminded me of the little food I had last night. Still was not sure why I had such little appetite. A couple of lassis and two parathas proved too much for both of us, and I started feeling dizzy. The feeling stayed for a couple of hours. The college was okay, I guess, conveniently located in the middle of a jungle, away from human habitation except for the students with little expectations. Dropping my friend of, I took a couple buses back home. On the way back I went around a shoppin

Our Good Friend Toto

Statutory Warning: This post may seem quite disgusting. So read with caution, you have been warned! :D Toto is one of our best friends. He is young, white(no racism) and has a tremendous capacity to tolerate our worst endeavors. Toto was born in India just about a few years ago and since then have been in service of the company I am working in. Many Totos stand in a line and eagerly wait for guys to come and meet them. They never complain, always wash down whatever they give with water, as soon as the guy leaves. It does not discriminate. To Toto the CEO of the company is no different from the security guard standing at the gate. Toto has got an automatic flushing mechanism that allows Toto to clean himself immediately after receiving the gift from the people. He is very health conscious you see. Apart from that the white color gets easily soiled, so keeping himself clean is a top priority. Toto is indispensable to our work. If Toto stops working, we will have to stop working in

Here I come

Five months before I embarked on the unknown journey to Mumbai, I did not know what was going to happen. Everything was in the dark. In all my four years of college life I always looked for any chance to come back home when I got a holiday in the weekends.  No, this time its Bangalore to Mumbai! However now thing have changed so tremendously. All my thoughts focus on getting a chance to see her again. Who is she? No one. There is no blood relation. She lives 2000km from my hometown. She ain't Bengali, does not even understand Bengali, doesn't share any real tangible similarity. But I find peace in her. I found love in her. In an odd way I find a lot of things that are strikingly similar to my tastes. And here I am, rushing to Mumbai to meet her, to spend some time with her.  I have got a pretty big surprise for her on the 15th of August. I don't know if she knows what is coming. But then I am going to surprise her in a big way. I mean as big as my budget would
